Sarah Jordan, a fourth generation Texan, grew up in Dallas in a family of six children. She attributes her love of good stories to a childhood without television and to her mother who, by reading to her, led her into the wondrous world of OZ, Beverly Cleary, and other children’s books.
She graduated from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO with a BA degree in both Art and Biology. She never stepped foot inside the English department.
She is married to Gary Jordan, with whom she has raised three marvelous children. They started their family in California, but after 12 years in the Bay Area they moved back to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to be near family.
As a homeschooling parent, she became active as a speaker, workshop leader, conference organizer, and consultant. She co-created the ReThinking Education conferences, which grew into an annual regional event for homeschooling families to meet and exchange ideas.
Her interests are gardening and native landscaping, beading and other artwork, and vacationing in Central Texas in a remote cabin which she and her husband built themselves with the help of their children.
Contrary to what readers believe, she has never owned a dog. She lives with a second-hand parrot that shouts six phrases and whistles “The Eyes of Texas”, and a seven-foot long boa constrictor that says nothing.
